A player from Liverpool has turned down a new contract, a major setback for Arne Slot. The player may leave the club.

One Liverpool player will depart despite his best season thus far.

This has been a very good season for Liverpool management, with Arne Slot impressing fans by bringing the Reds to the top of the Premier League and the Champions League since taking over from the legendary coach Jurgen Klopp last summer.

However, contract negotiations have largely dominated one major target for Liverpool this year, with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all potentially leaving the club for free next summer.

Those three are not the only players the club intends to offer new contracts to, as it became known that an unnamed key player has rejected his first offer for a contract extension.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, winger Luis Diaz may be leaving Liverpool soon after rejecting an extension offer for his current contract with the team.

Currently, Diaz is contracted to Liverpool until the summer of 2027, but Liverpool want to quickly extend his presently active contract so as to avoid a situation in which they could potentially find themselves in with Salah, Van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold.

The report has revealed that the 27-year-old player is not satisfied with the initial offer of a new contract presented to him by Liverpool, as he claims it fails to acknowledge the degree of impact he has made to the club or his performance since his arrival from Porto in January 2022.

The Spanish newspaper reported that Barcelona are interested in acquiring the Colombian player to reinforce their attacking capabilities from the left.
