Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has insisted that the Gunners have the potential to dethrone Liverpool at the top of the Premier League title race this term.
Anything can happen, claims Odegaard, as Arsenal keeps fighting in both the Premier League and Champions League this season.
Arsenal are 16 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League table after Saturday’s Reds win over Southampton.
Mikel Arteta’s men are also knocking on the quarter-final door of the Champions League after their mid-last week thrashing of PSV by 7-1.
Odegaard, when interviewed prior to the Premier League game between Man United and Arsenal, told Metro UK:
“We will struggle until the very end.”
“This is the way of thinking for all of us. We’ve struggled for the championship for three years in a row, and a couple of years ago we were leading by a lot of points, but at the end of the day we were second place.”
“That shows that everything is possible.”
“Now we’re in a hard position, but we must keep struggling.”
“Our ambition is – as it was last season – to be at a good level of form come the end of the season, and then see what happens, in both the league and the Champions League,” he said.
