An old man mauled to death by a stray hyena

An old woman aged 91 was on Saturday night attacked by a hyena to death in taita taveta county. The family of the deceased said the woman woman was inside her kitchen preparing supper, When the killer animal attacked. Her grandson sustained injuries in his arms and legs as he struggled with the hyena to rescue his grandmother. Neighbours who came to his rescue killed the animal before alerting the kws . The residents described the attack as strange as the animal had not been spotted anywhere before the incident. The attack comes at a time when human- wildlife conflicts have been on the rise in several parts of the county.
