An autopsy report has shed more light on the contentious death of the husband of gospel artist, Ruth Matete, BelovedJohn Apewajoye. Matete via social media on Sunday, April 12, had announced the death of her husband.
Daily Nation was first to report that the autopsy report detailed that Apewajoye died from complications including sepsis, multiple organ failure after suffering 60% burns.
The report dispels claims that Matete, a former Tusker Project Fame winner killed her husband by stabbing him to death.
On Tuesday evening, April 14, one Jesse McJessy who claimed to be a friend and manager to the deceased alleged that Matete had orchestrated the husband's death.
Jesse argued that the couple had a troubled marriage, adding that the musician was violent towards her husband.
"BelovedJohn's marriage was never rosy. Ruth Matete you can tell the whole world the truth. You were very violent, you have stabbed him not once, not twice, not thrice.
"The last time you tried to kill Beloved John, I was there in Athi River in Greatwall Gardens. You guys had a fight and you almost killed him," he stated.
On Tuesday, April 21, Matete was grilled by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at the directorate's headquarters along Kiambu Road, Nairobi.
She had earlier been interrogated by the DCI detectives on Friday, April 17.
Through her lawyer, Robert Odanga, Matete reportedly planned to sue Bellevue Hospital in South C where the husband was admitted and also planned to file a lawsuit against manufacturers of the gas cylinder which exploded leading to Apewajoye's death.
