Embu ward representatives are concerned with the way funds set aside to combat corona virus pandemic are being used. Minority leader Masters Mwaniki has revealed that out of a budget of Sh11 million, the county health docket was planning to use a whopping Sh9 million on allowances, lunches, bottled drinking water and airtime with a balance of Sh2 million set to fight against Covid-19. The health department was planning to use Sh1.5 million weekly on screening activities and emergency response. This include Sh1.2 million on lunch, Sh176,000 for airtime and Sh85,000 in allowances for the teams involved in the activities every week. In a report tabled by Ruguru-Ngandori MCA Muturi Mwombo who chairs the health committee, the department intended to spend a further Sh2 million for allowances for Covid-19 awareness creation facilitators, Sh700,000 for their airtime, Sh450,000 on fuel.
