Covid Organics was developed by Malagasy Institute of Applied Research IMRA. Covid Organics has been used for cure and prevention of Covid 19.
Scientists warn that Covid Organics could fuel a drug resistant strain of Malaria.
According to WHO, Artemisia the herb used in making Covid Organics has reduced Malaria deaths by 60%. Therefore, should malaria parasite become resistant to Artemisia there could be catastrophic to the African continent. In it's use for treating malaria Artemisia is used in combination with other drugs. This limits the malaria parasite from developing resistance.
WHO is worried that Artemisia is instead being used as a monotherapy in making Covid Organics. In 2018 WHO discouraged the solely use of Artemisia as a treatment or vaccine for malaria.
