Curfew extension is good for Kenya

Yesterday our H.E the president of Kenya? Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta extended the curfew of dusk to down by another 21 days. Citizens were however expecting a lift on the curfew. The reactions were diverse. Some expressing great disappointment with the extension while others were happy.
My opinion is that the extension is a good idea to limit the spread of covid 19. The countries that have succeeded in completely eliminating Corona virus, like Australia, took the option of complete lockdown. This meant that people were allowed to leave their homes only to purchase foodstuffs and to visit health centres. The corona virus curve was flattened within no time. But the lockdown was possible because the government was able to pay its citizens to stay home.
For Kenya and other developing countries, a complete shutdown may be a tall order but a partial closure like what the president announced yesterday could go a long way in limiting the spread of corona virus and finally flattening the curve.
What we all need to keep in mind always is that keeping safe is a personal responsibility!
