Did the moon disappear 900 years ago?!

900 years ago (1100) the moon was seen in the evening but after few hours it disappeared and darkness took over. Some scientists suggested that it was an eclipse where the shadow of the Earth was cast on the moon but that was not case because incase of an eclipse the would have been some light ( penumbra). Recent studies have show that it was caused by aerosols from volcanoes which were enough to block the moon, this is after an evidence of ancient volcanic activities that dated back the same period was discovered in the glaciers of Iceland.
