GIDEON MOI, the son of the second president of the republic of Kenya, Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi is currently the senator, Baringo county and KANU party leader. Looking closely to the latest political intrigues of the KANU-JUBILEE merger, exposes what is NOT new in Kenya's political arena.

During the preparations for 2013 general elections, towards the end of 2012, it was then witnessed that the then KANU party leader, UHURU KENYATTA opted to move out leaving the party leadership to Gideon Moi and joined The National Alliance (TNA) party, an existing party by then under the leadership of the current Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja and others. It's this party that gave UHURU to be the party chair and subsequently the party leader enabling UHURU to contest for the presidency with the support of William Ruto's United Republican Party (URP). The two won the election in a joint ticket, the UHURUTO, to become first president and the deputy president of the republic of Kenya UNDER the 2010 NEW CONSTITUTION DISPENSATION and were able to successfully defend their seats in 2017 general election making them the current sitting president and deputy president elect respectively.

It's thus in the light of the above, that might have informed GIDEON MOI to do exactly, what Uhuru Kenyatta did in the year 2013 going by the recent KANU-JUBILEE merger.This will enable him to run for presidency on a new political outfit formed from a merger of other political parties with his party KANU.This is because he takes full cognizance of the fact that the party cannot sell in itself because of the perception that, the electorate always get associated to new political parties or coalitions. Also, he cannot take the option of dissolving the independence party because it is not politically palatable to the existing KANU party life members. Therefore, holding all factors constant, a coalition between KANU and other parties might be the PARTY, the Baringo senator GIDEON MOI intends to use in order to sell his 2022 presidential bid to ascend to the highest office in the land.
