According to Joseph Murathi, his father Jeffitha Igeria went to buy rice worth Ksh 200, and because he had Ksh 4000 in his phone that he had sent for new year celebrations, he told the trader to withdraw the Ksh 200 and gave him his pin number.
However, the trader withdrew the Ksh 200 and then withdrew Ksh 3800 at the same time.
“My father discovered he had zero balance in the account after he asked his grandson to check the balance,” Murathi said.
