The Role of Public Service in a Multiparty Democracy

By - - [Politics]

Devolution has been with us for more than ten years now and Kenyan politics must now clearly define the role of Public service in a Multiparty democracy under devolution. We must appreciate the fact that after the closely fought general elections last year, Kenyans elected their leaders some of whom are now in government while others are in the opposition. Those who are in the opposition must accept to work closely with the government. The just ended Cabinet retreat at the Mt Kenya Safari Club is a case in point. The current administration must acknowledge the fact that working with the government does not mean defecting to the ruling coalition or firing public officers who were sympathetic to Azimio. The Constitution guarantees all citizens the freedom of association.
