The UK remains among the top 10 countries in the world reporting the highest number of new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours , an expert has said.
Dr Hans Kluge, World Health Organisation regional director for Europe, said it was still "a time of sorrow for many", despite an "overall slowing" of the pandemic in Europe . In its latest figures, the UK reported that another 3,242 people had tested positive for the virus while the death toll rose by 494 .
