Rio Ferdinand is getting furious at Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee for giving a pass to Harry Maguire in the dying embers of the thrilling 2-2 Premier League draw between the rivals on Sunday at Anfield.

According to Ferdinand, that Dutch striker should have attempted to finish on goal rather than attempt to set up the United captain.

One of the most exciting of the season, the game saw United put on a gutsy performance to take away a point from Anfield with the outcome hanging uncertainly until the dying minutes.

DAILYMAIL confirms the first half ended in a goalless stalemate, with United taking the lead six minutes after the break when Lisandro Martinez scored in the 52nd minute.

Seven minutes into the contest, Cody Gakpo equalized for the Reds, and in the 70th minute, Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot, giving the Reds a 2-1 lead; Amad Diallo equalized for United with ten minutes to go.

Zirkzee had a chance to seal the victory himself in the dying moments when he made a pass to a teammate in good position. Instead, he chose to send it to Harry Maguire, who, too, was well placed.

On the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast from YouTube, the star from England sharply criticized Zirkzee’s pass to Maguire.

“I would have gone to Zirkzee after the game into the dressing room and asked him, ‘Brother, what was that foolishness? What kind of pass was that? We could have won the game.’

“But then again, Zirkzee does not have the confidence.”
